OVERVIEW
As Fintonic expanded into the Mexican market, I led the localization of its Personal Finance Manager (PFM) to better align with the financial behaviors and expectations of users in Mexico. The goal was to redesign core features — including the dashboard, transactions section, and benefits hub — to offer a more intuitive and culturally relevant experience.
THE CHALLENGE
We set out to adapt the original Spanish PFM for the Mexican market, where user needs and financial habits differ significantly. The challenge was to ensure the platform felt familiar and useful in everyday contexts — from expense tracking to understanding transactions and accessing benefits — while laying the groundwork for the future integration of the Fintonic credit card.
Design Approach
1
Understanding Local Financial Habits.
We conducted interviews and research with Mexican users to uncover pain points and expectations. This helped identify key cultural nuances and the need for quick, digestible access to financial information.
2
Redesigning the Dashboard Experience.
We focused on surfacing the most relevant data — like account balances and spending categories — in a simplified dashboard that supported fast decision-making and day-to-day visibility.
3
Improving Transaction Transparency.
The transactions section was restructured to offer greater clarity and control. Users could now easily categorize, filter, and interpret their spending with a redesigned movement detail view.
4
Designing the Benefits Hub.
We introduced a new section for users to explore Fintonic’s services and financial tools. It was designed for ease of navigation and to highlight relevant value offers, encouraging product adoption.
5
Preparing for Credit Card Integration.
The updated PFM was also designed to integrate seamlessly with the Fintonic credit card, enabling users to manage all financial products within one unified platform.
Key Design Decisions
  • Localized dashboard, tailored to Mexican users’ financial routines.

  • Enhanced transaction interface, enabling easy categorization and review of expenses.

  • New benefits section, showcasing Fintonic’s tools in a user-friendly way.

  • Future-proofed integration, preparing the system for a seamless credit card experience.

FINAL IMPACT
The redesigned PFM successfully catered to the unique needs of Mexican users, offering a more intuitive, localized financial management experience. Improvements across the dashboard, transactions, and benefits sections led to stronger engagement, positioning Fintonic as a valuable and relevant tool in users’ everyday finances.
