THE PROJECT
Donadora is a crowdfunding platform that specializes in social projects. It was born out of Fondeadora, which initially focused on creative projects. As Fondeadora received an increasing number of projects with a social focus—such as education, health, and personal causes—the need arose to create a separate platform dedicated to supporting these initiatives. This led to the creation of Donadora, a space where users could contribute to social projects without the expectation of receiving a physical reward in return.
THE OBJECTIVE
The primary goal was to develop a platform that catered specifically to social projects, enabling users to make donations in a seamless and intuitive way. The design needed to focus on facilitating donations and introducing a subscription model, allowing contributors to support projects on a recurring basis.
CREATIVE PROCESS
1
Research & Analysis.
The project began by analyzing the existing Fondeadora platform and identifying key elements that could be adapted for a social-focused crowdfunding experience. It was essential to understand the motivations of users interested in supporting social projects and how they differed from those supporting creative endeavors.
2
Adapting the Fondeadora Experience.
The design of Donadora drew inspiration from Fondeadora but was tailored to meet the needs of donors who didn’t expect tangible rewards. This meant emphasizing the impact of contributions, showcasing how donations could make a real difference in people’s lives.
3
Integration of Subscription Plans.
One of the key features was the introduction of subscription plans, allowing users to make monthly contributions to projects. This feature was exemplified by projects like Animal Político, a media outlet in Mexico that relies on recurring donations to continue its independent journalism.
THE SOLUTION

The final product design for Donadora included:

  • A user-friendly platform where users could easily navigate through different social projects and make one-time or recurring donations.
  • Subscription models that allowed donors to support projects on a monthly basis, providing consistent funding for causes they believed in.
  • An emphasis on transparency and impact, with features that allowed project creators to update donors on how their contributions were making a difference.
  • Seamless integration with payment systems, ensuring a smooth experience for users when making donations.
FINAL IMPACT
Donadora successfully established itself as a leading platform for social crowdfunding in Mexico. It provided a space for people to support projects that mattered to them, whether it was for health, education, or community initiatives. The subscription model, in particular, created a sustainable way for projects like Animal Político to receive ongoing support, demonstrating the power of crowdfunding to drive social change.
